About Shena Parthab Taylor
I quite naturally painted since my childhood, as many children do! And I have always loved this form of expressing the world around me. I use mainly oils, watercolours, acrylics and charcoal/ pencils - occasionally collage, and other media. Over the past 20 years I have periodically attended art classes with 3 art teachers in England and some ad hoc classes. My first attempt at oil painting aged 16 was during a sweltering summer in India, guided by a lovely gentleman art teacher, Mr Kabli. I have painted off and on over the years work allowing. Now, as a Senior Citizen, I paint frequently - never a day without a line!

Bowl of Fruit
Just a ceramic bowl with fruit and the reflections on the table – with a dark night outside the window pane. Acrylic on paper.
Chinese Lantern in a Vase
Physalis alkekengi, or Chinese lantern, turns from orange to a filigree skeleton in winter, says the RHS. I captured it here before that change and these orange pods add joy to a cold day! Using two delicate mediums – charcoal and watercolour – presented challenges in capturing their their purity against a black and white rendering
Garia Eliptica
It is mid-winter and I have waited all year for the graceful catkins of the Garia Eliptica to grow in elegant abandon. They offer a delightful fresh green against the tall, slender grey metal jug. Pale sunlight throws shadows on the walls … Charcoal and watercolour on paper.
