Our first Concern is about People & their Health
“Communication is a powerful tool to address growing and complex health challenges. It can help to change people’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviours and empower them to make choices that help protect and improve health and well-being” – according to The World Health Organisation.
Talking Health undertook evidence based research and, time and again, during the research and testing phases of its concept and ‘Tool Box’, Talking Health Ambassadors were told by healthcare professionals and patients that engaging directly with each other would be welcomed and preferable to difficulties arising from communicating indirectly. By lowering the barriers to direct communication, the relationship would work better for both parties, fostering privacy, empowerment and better understandings and, thereby, more sustainably improving ‘adherence’ and health outcomes.
So, if you are helping a member of your family or community to manage their healthcare, and they are finding it difficult to engage with healthcare professionals to express their needs, the Talking Health Ambassadors and Tool Box are here, safely accessible via theCafé to support you in helping them.
These tools were developed and tested by the highest academic standards, and ‘at the coal face’ – with members of the public – to help make possible more effective communication between healthcare professionals and patients and, thus, to help facilitate better outcomes for all.
Talking Health is a social enterprise, like theCafe, so that people can be sure that they can trust us and our mission. They are partners for both the operational benefits and also, crucially, because both are aware of the links between creativity and health and well-being.
