Casus Belli : About
Insofar as we know, “Casus Belli” is a rather dignified ex-pat figure residing in Delhi, India, taking measured, slightly old-fashioned views tinged with the odd bout of remembrance and rebellion.
Insofar as we can tell, members of his family served in India in the military and the Civil Service, and he went to Doon School, which is not exactly quite the same as local secondary modern in the UK’s mining communities!
We can then, to some extent, possibly trace his family influences back through the history of the British in India and known to include: the Raj including Jalalabad and Jallianwala Bagh. We understand that some ex-pat Brits who, just might, have had a hand in events when, on March 10, 1922, Gandhi was arrested by the government on sedition. charges in Mumbai, known at the time as Bombay. He was sentenced to six years in prison for his involvement in protesting the British colonial government in India.
We might then postulate that the influences we see reflected in his writings are not necessarily those of what we used to call “Lefties”,; referring to politics and not necessarily soccer or golf!
